Best Day Ever

Wishing all a happy Friday.  Today I am sharing my latest two page layout.  I started on this earlier in the week and finally finished this morning while Grayson was napping and Ava was attending PreSchool.

Ron came for a visit on Tuesday and bring another small load from the house.  He couldn't work this week since it turned frigid, unfortunately, he is planning to head back on Sunday.  It has been good having him here with all of us....so ready to get everything moved to our new home and have him here all of the time.  We are all ready for the big move!

The photos on my newest layout were taken in May 2013 over Memorial Weekend.  It was Raegen's class reunion weekend....her 10th!  It is hard to believe it has now been eleven years since she graduated from high school....time sure goes fast!  I had taken the photos of Ava & Raegen playing on the new playground equipment at the Kindergarden playground. Fun memories!

Supplies-Paper: MME Kaleidoscope Stack, MME Stella Rose, Title: BG Designer Chipboard,  Amy Tangerine Printed Fabric Letters, Heidi Swapp Sticker Words, BG Hipster Stickers, & Paper Studio Wod Veneer's, Word Elements: BG Hey You.

Prayers for a blessed weekend.

Favorite Little Lady

Hello everyone!  I am happy to be sharing (2) two page layouts on my blog today.....and, am almost finished with another two pager!  I am trying very hard to be a little faster with my layouts and it seems to be working!

I love how this layout turned out....love the colors and fun Basic Grey paper.  It was left over from a POTM Kit at my LSS....gee, I don't always follow the basic instructions that come in the kit, shame on me!  I have used this same paper on another two page layout and a single.
Supplies: Paper-BG Highline Kit, BG Hey You, BG Misc Scraps, MME Colorbok, Fiskars Punch, Embellishments-Heidi Swapp, BG Highline, Title-Cricut Stone Script Font, Heidi Swapp Jel Stickers, BG Alpha Stickers.
Sketch-Scrapbook Generation's Sketch Fusion with Simple Stories, Sketch # 13.

My second two pager was also scrapped using a sketch by Scrapbook Generation's.  I changed a few things from the original sketch and will journal on both when my printer arrives.  I will be so happy when hubby & I get everything moved to our new home!
Supplies:  Paper-SS Say Cheese, BG Hey You, Title-Little Yellow Bicycle Die Cut Words, BG Sticker Words, Paper Studio Wood Veneer's.
Sketch-Scrapbook Generation's Sketch Fusion with Simple Stories, Sketch # 10.
Wishing all a good Friday and a great weekend.

The Good Life

Happy Friday!  I finished my newest layout over the weekend and just now taking the time to post it to my blog....it's been a long week.  The photos for this layout were taken in July of 2013...I love the bond between Ava and her Grandpa!  She and her mommy  were at our house so we could take our annual vacation to visit the Parks' family in Cheyenne, Wyoming....look out CFD here were come!

Supplies-Paper: BG Herbs & Honey, Elements: BG Seed Envelop, Sew Easy Floss,  BG Tags & Words, BG Photo Frames, Title-Studio Calico Wood Veneers, BG Hey You Alpha Stickers.

I still need to journal on this layout.....my least favorite part of scrapping!  Since I like to print my journaling and I haven't moved my printer yet.... I will use that as my excuse for stalling on my journaling.

Sketch #18 by Allison Davis, Scrapbook Generation's Sketch Fusion with Simple Stories.

I love using sketches and really like the sketches by Scrapbook Generation.   I have several of these books and will probably add more to my collection.

Wishing all a blessed weekend....stay warm!

Scrapper's Blog Tour

Welcome to another stop on the Scrapper's Blog Tour.....I was excited to be invited to participate in the tour by a very talented scrapper, Shirley Mascarina.  She host a monthly sketch challenges on her blog and is a talented scrapper which I follow for creative inspiration.....be sure and stop by her blog to check her process & awesome layouts.  I want to thank Shirley for tagging me.

I am a little late getting my post up this week since I care for my grandchildren during the day......and, the last few weeks have been in the process of buying a house across the street from my grandchildren & their parents!  My husband & I are both retired and have been looking at homes in the area for quite some time......well, we found one!  My oldest daughter and I viewed the home on September 11 and my husband & I signed the papers on September 26!  This is a big "life change" for hubby & I since we have lived in SW Kansas for most of our lives......but, a good time to make the a big change.  Now comes the hard part of this new adventure....moving!

1.) What am I working on right now?

I am working on a two page layout of my granddaughter, Ava, and her grandpa, mowing the lawn...photos are from July 2013.  Funny thing, Ava, thought she was driving the mower....Grandpa didn't spoil her fun and tell her any different.

2.) How long does it take me to create a project?

I am a very slow scrapper!  I have tried to scrap faster, but, it just isn't me!  The ladies that I use to scrap with at my church would tease me at the end of a long day of scrapping......wanting to know how many layouts I had finished.  At the present time I am living with my youngest daughter, Raegen, and her family, caring for my grandchildren during the day.  I guess I could use that as my excuse for being so slow, although that isn't the only reason.  I start out strong, but find it hard to make decisions on titles, embellishments, and journaling.  A two page layout could take between 2-4 hours......sometimes longer!

3.) What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

I love using washi tape, pocket envelops, wood veneer's, and gesso.....a new one for me!  I am not very brave at trying new items, I love the look but usually stay with what I know will work for me.

4.)  How does my writing/creating process work?

I love scrapping with sketches for my layouts.  After choosing my photos, I find a sketch, paper, and then elements.  I will often print my photos at home to go with a favorite sketch.  I like scrapping with a collection and have been using a lot of Basic Grey lately, love that the colors and elements will coordinate on my page.  I do mostly two page layouts, occasionally scrapping a single.....mostly for the fact that I take way too many photos to scrap singles.  Also, when I scrap a single layout, and it isn't to start, or end an album, I like my paper on the opposing page to match......I know, crazy! Therefor, I will scrap the next layout with coordinating paper!

5.) How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

I have several favorite blogs that I follow for inspiration and have followed for quite some time.  Another favorite place to go for inspiration is Scrapbook Generations online magazine, Create.  I didn't ever think I would like downloading a magazine, but love having it on my computer for easy access!  The creators of the magazine, the design team, and gallery readers are super!

6.) What is my signature style?

I don't really have a style since it seems to change as I go along.....depending on my mood, or the layout!  It is probably "clean & simple" for the most part.  I admire those that are brave enough to try new elements on their layouts.....might get braver as I go along.

Thanks for stopping by my blog tour.  Happy scrapping!

Mall Play Time/Exciting News!

Happy Friday!  Loving the cold and rainy weather this morning!  I am happy to be heading home today after Raegen & Heath get home after work....later than I would like to be going, but excited to see Ron for a couple of days and start packing!  My exciting news that I mentioned in my last blog post is the fact that Ron & I bought a house across the street from Heath, Raegen, Ava & Grayson and Rachelle.  Love that we will be close to our family and that Ron will be here with me.

The purchase of our new home happened very fast!  From the time I saw the sign go up in the beautiful house & yard across the street until the day Ron & I signed the papers was only 16 days.....very unusual for it to happen so fast!  When I saw the realtor place the sign, I called our realtor, and Rachelle and I looked at the house the next day!  The inside of the house is as neat and pretty as the grass and landscaping on the outside.  I called Ron and told him we should buy it.....and, we did!  Talk about trusting your spouse....he is amazing and likes the house as much as I do.  We will be down sizing a little and will be getting rid of a lot of things that we have accumulated over the last 20 years of living in our present home.  Since Ron is still working in Syracuse until the end of November, we won't be moving in completely until such time.  I will be going home a couple of times to pack before the big move....oh, my!  This move will be a big "life change" for us....one that we have prayed about for a long time.

I finished my newest layout this past weekend, finally getting it posted!  I attended a weekend crop and had a wonderful time, making new friends and visiting with ladies that I had cropped with in the past.  The best part was the fact that I live only three minutes away from where the crop was held.....super!  I finished more layouts but need to complete several things on each layout before I can take photos.
Supplies- Paper:BG Hey Boy, K&Co Confetti, Misc Cardstock. Jellibean Wood Grain Bags, BG Hello Die Cuts, EK Success Border Punch, Amy Tangerine Printed Fabric Letters, BG Hey Girl Alphabet Stickers, and Paper Studio Printed Wood Buttons.

I have another two page layout on my desk that is waiting to be finished, only needs a title and journaling.

Hope all is well.  Wishing you a blessed weekend.

It's A Girl Thing

Happy Friday!  Fall is in the air!  I love fall for many reasons, one being cooler weather,  high school sporting events, visits to the pumpkin patch with my grandchildren, and the beautiful fall colors.

My layout today was scrapped using photos of Ava doing one of her favorite things when shopping.....admiring the jewelry & herself!  It doesn't matter where we shop, while everyone else is shopping for cloths, she is admiring & trying on the jewelry!

This is my second layout using paper from my Basic Grey POTM kit.  Love the colors from the kit and still have a little paper & a lot of elements for another project.  I want to thank Ashley Horton for the Say It With Pearls Adhesive, they were the perfect element for this layout.  Ashely had sent them to me over a year ago and I felt guilty that I had not used them yet, but so glad that I had saved them for Miss Ava's fun layout!  Ashley has also been a source of inspiration for my scrapping.....always new & creative ideas!

Supplies-Paper: BG Highline Collection, Adornit Pink Cotton Candy, Doilie: Dovecraft, Chipboard: Heidi Swapp, Pearl Adhesive: Prima Marketing, Title: Cricut Base Camp, Wood Veneer:Studio Calico, Word Elements: Tim Holtz & Me & My Big Ideas.

I have a reveal coming this next week......I can hardly wait to tell all!  Wishing all a blessed weekend.

Hello There

Wishing everyone a blessed Monday morning!
I have been absent from my blog far too long!  There are many exciting things going on in my life, but not ready to tell yet!  My newest layout was scrapped using photos of Ava that were taken in March 2013.  I had bought the cute hat for her while we were at the mall one Saturday and knew it would be perfect for her third year photos!

The inspiration for this layout came from one of my favorite scrappers, Lynette Jacobs.  It was featured in the August issue of Create Magazine.  I decided to print the photos in b&w because the colors were so bold and I wanted to focus on the photos themselves.  Ava is so much fun to scrap for and I love how this one turned out.
Supplies-Paper: BG Highline POTM, MME Blossom Sisters, BG Hey You (Frame), BG Register, BG Olivia, BoBunny Back to Backs, Chipboard: Heidi Swapp Hearts, Title: Tim Holtz Mini Cards, Wood Veneer: Studio Calico, Border Punch: Martha Stewart, Rub-Ons: Little Yellow Bicycle.

For this layout I choose to use a Basic Grey POTM instead of using it as they suggested.....love the colors and have more left for another layout, or two.

I feel very blessed to my wonderful husband that is willing to stay in our home town, waiting patiently, for our house to sale.  He works very hard at a job that he loves so I can be here caring for Ava & Grayson....he also has another job on the side since he likes to stay busy.   He took early retirement three years ago, but doesn't want to slow down any time soon.  What a man.....love him so much!  He is celebrating his 64th Birthday today!  One of the young men that he works with offered to take him out to dinner tonight.  Thanks, Christian!

Praying that everyone has a good week.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Good Morning!  It has been over a month since I have updated my blog......I have been very busy caring for my grandchildren during the day and helping their mommy & daddy in the evenings.  Today I am sharing three layouts, one 2 pager, and two single layouts.  I can now say I have officially finished Ava's second year.....finally!

The 2 pager was scrapped using the two page sketch from the May Create Magazine....love their sketches!  I also love the Simple Stories "Say Cheese" Collection and have used it on several layouts.  I knew we wouldn't be going to Disney World or Disney Land in the near future, therefore, thought I would go ahead and have fun with one of my favorite collections.  The colors were perfect for Ava's 1st Birthday "Cars" themed party.
SS Say Cheese Collection, Paper Co Elegant Nights, Jolee's Disney Elements,  BG Photo Frame,  BG Stickers Fonts, Title-ATD Stickers, Misc Words-Tim Holtz.
I love the photo of my daughter, Raegen, and granddaughter, Ava.....such a special moment.  This layout was my last layout in Ava's second year album.
Paper Studio Persnickety, Bo Bunny Back To Back's, BG Hey Girls/Strips Under Photo, K & Co Adhesive Borders, BG Tags, BG Brad & Buttons, Studio Calico Wood Veneers, Misc Words-Tim Holtz,  Heidi Swapp Title, Studio 112 Epoxy Stickers, Misc Flowers & Buttons. Dovecraft Doilies.

I tried something new on my last layout.....Gesso!  I have seen several of my favorite scrappers use it on their layouts and decided to gave it a try.  The sketch for this layout is my version of the single layout from the June Create Magazine.
BG Hey You Collection, Cor e' donations, Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil, ACMI Gesso, DCWV Gem Stickers,  Cricut Cuttin' Up Font, DCWV Serenity White Glitter/Title, & Ki Gel Candy Epoxy Stickers.
I have photos waiting to start my next layout, but might not get it started this week since my SIL is out of town on business.  I might have to wait until Ava starts pre-school this next week to get back to my layouts.  She will be at school for three hours in the mornings and Grayson normally takes a good nap during that time.....hope that doesn't change!

Wishing everyone a blessed day.

Yikes!  Summer for me is almost over.....seemed to go fast!  We will be leaving for vacation on Friday to visit our dear friends in Cheyenne, Wyoming, our annual trip to attend Cheyenne Frontier Days and visit the Parks family.  Our family helped them moved to Cheyenne in 1993 and have visited every summer, with the exception of two, ever since.  Our daughter's, the Ewy & Parks, were small when their family moved to Cheyenne....a lot has changed over the past 21 years!  All four of the girls graduated from college and have jobs & families of their own.  Our youngest daughter is married and has a daughter & son, their oldest daughter is married and has a daughter.  Our oldest daughter is still single, as is their youngest.....both are very picky, must be why they are still single.  As far as career choices, they didn't vary much, three are in education and one is a physical therapist.  Our granddaughter, Ava, is going with us and will get to meet Gwendolyn, the Parks' granddaughter....very anxious that our granddaughters get to meet this trip!  After we take Ava back home next weekend, I will have one week before returning to take care of Grayson.....school starts for Raegen with teacher in service on August 6!  Way too soon!

I am almost finished with the layouts that I had planned to complete this summer.  I only need to scrap a two page layout & a single before going back.  I wish I had completed more but didn't have the mojo that I needed, just very glad to have completed most of what was on my list.

My first layout is a two pager of Christmas 2011.....not my favorite and still needs journaling, but finished.
Supplies-BG Jovial Pomegranate, Cloud Design Sparkle, Misc Paper, Authentic Puzzle Title Pieces, BG Hey Boy, Alphabet Stickers, & SS Merry & Bright Card.

My second layout is of Ava and her Aunt Rachelle, her Cha Cho, one evening while listening to Cha Cho read a book she had received for Christmas.
Supplies-BG Hey You, BG Marrakech Chamomile, BG Hey You Diecuts & Transparencies,  Dies, Heidi Swapp Embellishments "Happy",  & Maya Mists.

My last layout shows how much Ava loves the Disney Pixar "Cars" movie and anything that resembled the movie!  The evening I took the photos, Ava had lined up her cars on Grandpa's leg.....making sure he held very still so the cars didn't fall.  Loved the little Disney Elements by EK Success.   I love using sketches and found one I really like from the Creative Scrappers Blog, sketch # 273.   As usual, I still need to journal, and will do it later.
Supplies-BG Hey You, BG Marrakech Chamomile, DCWV 4x6 Dots, Stripes & Plaids, Authentic Intent, Misc Vacation PP, EK Success Disney Car Dimensional Stickers, BG Hey You Flags, Transparencies, Snippets, & Alphabet Stickers, and  BG Dark Chocolate Chipboard Fonts.

I received a call and Ava & her daddy are almost here.....a long 4 1/2 hour drive, and her daddy is returning home tonight since he has to work tomorrow.   Praying for a safe return  home for my wonderful son-in-law.

Wishing everyone a blessed week.

Monday, June 23, 2014

I finished this layout on Friday and finally taking time to add it to my blog.  This layout seemed to take a while to come together!  First, I had a hard time finding a sketch that would work with all of my photos.....finally combining three different sketches.  The layout came together after combining the sketches, then I had a hard time deciding on the placement of my elements.  Gee....decisions, decisions!  I love the Simple Stories "Say Cheese" Collection and chose to use it since the color theme worked so well with my photos.  I also love the neat stickers & fonts that came with the collection.  I journaled on my layout yesterday and added a couple of strips of washi tape....journaling is my least favorite part of scrapping so I like to add it after taking my photo.

I have to admit that I haven't scrapped as much as I was hoping I would this summer.....I seem to have too much time on my hands!

Supplies-Kraft Cardstock, SS Say Cheese Collection, BG Hey You Collection, Black Cardstock, SS Say Cheeese Expression Elements, Stickers, Fonts, & Brads, BG Hello Photo Frames, BG Dark Chocolate Chip Font & Paper Studio Washi Tape.
I have been packing for a trip that I am taking this week with my sister, Gwen, to visit another sister, Rebecca & her family in Cape Girardeau, Missouir.  This will be my first visit to her home......so excited!  I will be riding the train to Kansas City, Missouri, Gwen will pick me up and we will travel together to Cape Girardeau.  After our visit, Gwen & I will travel back to her home near Kansas City, then she and her husband will take me to Wichita for a visit with the kids for the 4th of July celebration.

Wishing all of safe & fun week.

ZzZzZZzZzZz.........

My newest layout was scrapped using Sketch #18 from Tambayan.  Shirley Mijares Mascarina is celebrating her second year of scrapbooking with fun giveaways on her site.  She posted sketches for two layouts, a single and a double, and a card sketch.  I finally finished a layout using the single sketch.
Sketch #18/Tambayan

The photos for this layout were taken in December of 2011 after a last minute shopping trip to the mall.  On the way to the house, we were visiting and realized that Ava had fallen asleep.  Of course, I couldn't resist taking photos!
Supplies-K&Co Life's Little Occasions, BG Hey You, MME Kaleidoscope, Imaginesce Perfectly Posh, BG Hey You Photo Viewer & Star Elements, MM Noteworthy, BG Chipboard Font, Glitz & Glitter Word Stickers, Tsukineko Red & Lilac Mist.

I am also posting an updated layout of Christmas Eve 2011, with additions!  I felt like it needed a few more elements....looked a little empty!

I am getting closer to finishing Ava's second year album.....feels good!  Wishing all a blessed day!

 Sketch Challenge

I scrapped my newest layout using the weekly Thursday sketch challenge hosted by Elle's Studio after seeing a layout created by Ashley Horton.  The circles on the sketch caught my eye since I love scrapping with circles.

Sketch from Elle's Studio.

Paper-PS Persnickety Paper Pack, K&Co Designer Paper, K&Co "Life's Little Occasions",  & BG "Hey Boy" Collection.  Elements- BG Hello Photo Frame & Viewer, BG Flag, Amy Tangerine Thickers, Tsukineko Willow & Lilac Mist, Studio Calico Wood Veneers, Print Works Collection Stamp, SS "Stella Rose" Stickers, Misc Sequins,  & Misc Twine.

I started this layout by misting white cardstock and then added the three large circles.  I matted the large photo and framed the smaller photo with a BG photo frame, giving the photos a finished look.  Since I wanted to keep with the circle theme,  I tucked a BG Photo Viewer behind the larger photo....love the added layering it gives to the layout.  I placed the title over the lower part of the frame, added a homemade "Love this" banner, the blue banner, a BG Flag tied with twine, wood veneers, the "always" stamp and three small sequins to finish my layout.

Wishing you a great week.

Scrapping Again!

It took me a few days to get back to my scrapping after arriving home for the summer.  My granddaughter, Ava, spent three days with Grandpa & I before we headed back to Wichita to attend the state track meet this past Friday & Saturday.  Ava & I had fun doing girly things while Grandpa was a work.  We spent one morning getting a pedicure & manicure....she loved it!  One evening while fixing dinner I discovered she had taken all of my shoes out of my closet and had them lined up the living room.  She said she was having a "fashion show" and ask if I was going to watch.  Ava has a wonderful imagination and I enjoyed listening to her play on her cell phone, which, of course, isn't real.  She kept saying that she was talking with he boyfriend, they were getting married and he was going to buy her wedding dress and flowers!  We played dress up, school, day care, board games, cards, and golfed with Grandpa.   After spending three days with Grandpa & Mimi, she was ready to be home with mommy, daddy, and Grayson.

My layout is of Christmas Eve 2011.  The photos were taken before our family attended Christmas Eve services.....such cute photos! Since finishing the layout, I added several snowflakes & journaling strips, knowing it needed more elements. I will take another photo when the sun is shining!  It has been cloudy here all day, ending the day with a downpour of rain & hail.  We desperately need the rain and pray this is the end of our drought!

Supplies-BG Carte Postale, SS Handmade Holiday, MM Multipack Noel, SS Card, EP Chipboard, and Cricut Cuttin' Up Font.

I have to admit this week has been a little hard for me.  I retired in December, started caring for my grandson, Grayson, in February and am now at home for a couple of months until school starts for Raegen in August.  I have worked since I was 12 or 13 years old, either helping my parents at home with my younger sisters and brothers, or working at my parents business.  They owned a 24 hour Shamrock Service Station & Cafe.
Since I have worked for so many years, being at home is very different for me.  I am determined to scrap daily, work out, take care of my flower beds, visit friends and spend time with Ron.  He is enjoying my home cooking since he doesn't cook much when I am gone.

Wishing all of good weekend.  God Bless.

Heading Home!

Hello!  Summer vacation is here for teachers and students, and, me!  Yesterday was the last teacher work day for Raegen, and my last day caring for Grayson.....I am going to miss our days together, just the two of us.  It is hard to believe he was only 5 weeks old when Raegen went back to school in February.  He is now 4 1/2 months old, has two teeth, and is rolling all over the place.  Heath, Raegen, Ava, & Grayson headed for Syracuse this morning to attend Heath's 10 year class reunion.  I will be heading out shortly, although I will not be going directly home.  Ron is helping with a Regional track meet a couple of hours from here so I will pick him up on my way.....might be a late night getting home.

I have my scrap supplies, cloths, etc packed and ready to head home for a couple of months.  Since I will not be working this summer, my plan is to scrap, scrap, scrap, and spend some much needed time with Ron.  He has been very patient through all of this, but it is time to be home....love him for all that he does for our family.  He is the love of my life and we will celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary in August.....awesome!

The sketch for my layout is Sketch #16 from Scrapbook Generations Sketch Magic with Simple Stories.....love these sketch.

Paper-BG "Hey You", BoBunny "Holiday Magic", Adorn It "Holly Jolly", BG Jovial "Snowball Flight",  BG "Handmade Holiday" Card, BG Label Stickers, & EP "Reflections Christmas" Chipboard Accents.
Ron and I will be returning in a week for a long weekend of fun.....he gets to do one of his favorite things since retiring from coaching, helping run off the state track meet.  He coached for 38 years and was excited when he was invited to help run off the two day event.  The track meet is held at Wichita State University Track & Field Facility for all six high school classes across the state.  I love attending state track, which I did many times when Ron was coaching, and plan to attend this year with Raegen, Ava, & Grayson.  Hope it isn't too hot.

Wishing all a wonderful Memorial weekend.   Thank You to all Veterans for their service to our country.  God Bless.

Today is Awesome

Good Morning!  I am sharing another layout of Ava and her mommy & daddy.  I scrapped this layout using similar colors & paper that I used on my previous layout.....one of those OCD things!  This is one of those layouts that just didn't seem to come together as easy as I would have liked.....but, very happy with the finished layout!  There are times when I scrap that I seem to "over think" my choice of paper, elements, title, etc., when my main focus should be on the photos.  Love the photos and very happy to be adding another layout to Ava's album.
Paper-Recollections Stack, Paper Studio Stack, Misc Paper, Basic Grey Elements,  Heidi Swap Script Font, Tim Holtz Chitchat Words, Bazzill Chips, BG Spice Market Stickers & Metal Element, Studio Calico Wood Veneer, Misc words.

I am trying to be very selective when choosing photos to scrap.......no need, or time, to scrap each and every photo!  I do have photos picked out for the next layout of Ava, now to find a sketch!

Wishing you a good day.  God Bless.

House Divided!

Happy Friday!  I am sharing my newest layout combining two challenges.  The first challenge is a sketch from Creative Scrappers Birthday Blog Hop.  The second challenge is from Child's Play Challenge to use Scooby Doo as inspiration for a layout.
Sketch #4
My husband and son-in-law have an ongoing rivalry over which Kansas university is the best, the Kansas State Wildcats, or the Kansas Jayhawks.  I took the photos for this layout while we were visiting over the long Thanksgiving weekend in 2011, seems like a long time ago.  It is a fun rivalry and gives the guys something to tease each other about.....but, we all know Kansas State has the better football team and Kansas has the better basketball.
Child's Play Challenge
The colors in the Scooby Doo photo, the red & purple, and Ava's Halloween costume were my inspiration.
Supplies-Kansas & Kansas State pp, Misc pp, BG Photo Frame, BG Chipboard, BG Flags, Jillibean Corrugated House,  Tim Holtz Chitchat, Misc Twine, Fancy Pants Chipboard, Studio Calico Wood Veneer, and Misc Buttons & Brads.

The fun thing about a college team rivalry, is the kidding & teasing that goes with it.   The day Ava was born, which happened to be in Lawrence, Kansas, the home of the Kansas Jayhawks, her daddy was wearing his Jayhawk sweatshirt and Grandpa wore his favorite Wildcat sweatshirt.  When picking out a gift in the hospital gift shop, Grandpa bought Ava her first K State fitted cap and KU shoes & socks.  I am sure the only time she wore the two gifts at the same time was for the photo.  I had thoughts of adding it to this layout, it just didn't seem to fit.  No doubt, the rivalry will continue in the future.

Wishing all a good day.  God Bless.

Fabulous!

Good Morning!  My newest layout was scrapped using Sketch #3 from Creative Scrappers.  This past Friday they celebrated their 6th Birthday with a blog hop and 12 free sketches to upload.....an awesome Birthday Bash.  If you are looking for new ideas & creative inspiration, check them out.  They are also on Facebook!

These photos were taken in November of 2011 of Ava and her Aunt Lorra playing one evening.  I love the cute headband that Ava is wearing and the bright green socks.....so cute!
Supplies-Basic Grey "Hey You" Collection, Washi Tape, Paper Studio Printed Wood Buttons, Heidi Swapp Word Embellishments, Dovecraft Doilies, & Misc Ticket Element.

My layout was also scrapped to coordinate with the previous page that was posted this past Friday.  Those that know, or follow me, realize that I am a little weird in the fact that I like my single layouts to match since I scrap mostly two pagers.....so silly.
Sketch #3

Wishing everyone a blessed day!

Happy Friday!

I am very happy to be sharing another layout this week.  I love these photos of Ava and love the finished layout.  I didn't use a sketch for this layout, just the two photos that I had printed one evening.....printing one a 5x7 by mistake, it should have been 4x6 and did not realize what I had done until I arrived at the house.  I normally print my own photos but decided not to bring my printer with me.  That is something that I might have to rethink before coming back in August to care for Grayson.  Who knows, we might actually sell our house before then, if we do, I will have my own house & scrap space and won't be crowded into only one room to sleep, scrap, and relax!

Supplies-BG "Hey You" Collection, MME Stella Rose Collection, Webster's Pages Waiting for Santa, MS Border Punch,  K&Co Die Cuts & Stickers, Paper Studio Wood Buttons, Basic Grey Photo Frames, & MME Stella Rose Label Stickers.
I really like the background paper for this layout....more from my Basic Grey "Hey You" Collection.  Wishing all a good day & thank you for checking out my blog.

Moving Along!

Happy Monday everyone!  It feels good to have finished another layout for Ava.....so happy.  I scrapped this layout using Sketch #266 from Creative Scrappers.
Supplies-BG "Hey Girl", EP "Hello Summer",  Adornit, MS Butterfly Punch, Studio Calico Wood Veneer, Misc Chipboard, BG "Hey You" Elements, Misc Stamps.
One of my favorite shapes to scrap happens to be circles and I knew instantly that this would be a fun challenge.  I completely rotated the sketch so that my photo would be facing in, and not out to the edge of the page.  I used a mix of colors in my paper, washi tape, chipboard, and other elements.
The layout is also for a fun challenge at Child's Play.  The inspiration for this challenge is from the old game Simon.  Like I stated, I love scrapping with circles and the round shape of the game was the perfect match for my layout of circles.  Thanks for a great challenge & wonderful inspiration.

Wishing all a blessed day.

Going Backwards!

There are times when trying to catch up on scrapping my photos that I feel like I am going in the wrong direction.  I found these photos of Ava & her Aunt Rachelle from May of 2011 and knew they had to be scrapped.  Ava loved to visit the neighbors dogs, stopping to tell them hello every time she had the chance.

I am very happy that this layout came together so fast....very fast for me!  I am getting closer to finishing Ava's second year by being more selective in my choice of photos.  I certainly took way too many  photos to scrap them all and will save the remaining photos for photo albums.  I love the way this turned out and glad that I decided to go ahead and scrap the special bond between Ava & Rachelle.

Supplies-Hello Summer PP Collection & Stickers by Echo Park, Cricut Cuttin' Up Font, Basic Grey Photo Frame, Studio Calico Wood Veneer, Misc Sticker & Black Lace Border, Misc Buttons, Studio G Washi Tape.

It is time to get busy this morning before Grayson is awake.  Oh, dear, I have not scrapped a single layout of Grayson....time to get busy.

Wishing everyone a blessed day.

Happy 27th Birthday!

So very happy to be making progress on my scrapping......it's hard to believe that it has only been four days since my blog post!  It has certainly made a difference being home during the day.  There are days that I don't scrap much, just depends on how the day is going and how long Grayson naps.  I also help out by starting dinner which is one less thing for Raegen to do after a long day at school.  I try to take advantage of my evenings and the fact that everyone goes to bed early, then I scrap away! It sure feels good to be scrapping & creating!

The sketch for this layout is from the January issue of Create.  I turned the original sketch to the left to accommodate my photos, also added an additional photo.  I love the photos of my family.....hard to believe that Raegen will turn 30 this July!  Amazing how fast time goes!
Supplies-MME Stella Rose PP Collection, BG "Hey You" PP, Dovercraft Doilie, Misc Chipboard,  MME Chalk Studio Buttons, BG "Hey You" Flags, Misc Twine.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Wishing you a blessed day.

Great Ball of Fun!

Good Morning!  I want to share a layout that I was inspired to scrap by a challenge on two different blogs.....Child's Play Challenges and Scrapstuffz' Inspired By.  The creators of the two blogs thought it would be fun to do a crossover challenge....the photo inspiration coming from Child's Play Challenges and the sketch from Scrapstuffz' Inspired By.

Photo from Child's Play Challenges

Sketch from Scrapstuffz' Inspired By

After seeing the colorful sand art photo, I knew immediately which photos I would scrap for this challenge.  The photos were of Ava, her mommy, and grandpa playing with a toy that expands in size, extending into a large ball.  I was inspired by the bright colors of the sand art.  Although the sketch is a single layout, I chose to turn it into a two page layout.  I like to scrap with circles and bright colors......going with rings to mimic the toy in the photo.
Supplies-Basic Grey "Hey You" and "Hey Girl" collection, BG "Hey You" elements, MM Cheeky Pebble Stickers, Amy Tangerine Thickers, Misc ball title, Misc Rub On, Misc Washi, and Wood Veneer.

As I mentioned in my last post, I have scrapped several layouts using Basic Grey's "Hey Girl" and "Hey You" Collection of paper and elements.  Maybe this means that I should be more creative and try a new techniques, or shop for different paper!  Either way, I love to scrap for my family and love to watch as they look at their albums, discussing a favorite family activity, holiday, birthday, or event.....means the world to me.

I would like to thank a scrapbook friend, Steffanie, for encouraging me to try this month's challenge.  This was a fun challenge and will certainly do more challenges on both blogs.

Love

Hello!  The sketch for this layout is from Scrapbook Generation's February issue of Create online magazine.  They are fabulous at creating sketches & awesome layouts to go with the sketches.  They have a wonderful Create Team that is featured each month showing layouts using the single, two page, and tag sketches for the month.  Also featured in each issue is a different Scrap Design company.  The month of March they featured Teresa Collins & her Design Team.....love her line & the layouts scrapped by the Design Team.  One of my favorite features in the magazine is the Reader Gallery which gives readers a chance to showcase their layouts using a past layout.  I have considered sending a layout in for consideration.....I just need to get one finished before the dead line and email it!
Supplies-Basic Grey "Hey Girl", K&Co Confetti, Misc paper,  BG Snippets, Studio Calico Wood Veneer, LYB Canvas Words, Ribbon, & Misc Rub Ons
I noticed a trend in my choice of paper in the last couple of months, several have been scrapped with same paper line.....Basic Grey's "Hey Girl".  I love the soft colors & elements, they seem to go well with the adorable photos of my granddaughter, Ava.  Funny thing, the two pager that is on my desk is scrapped with the same line of paper......maybe I should try out for their design team!

Wishing all a blessed day.

Mimi & Ava!
My newest layout was scrapped a couple of weeks ago...just needed a couple of additions.  I also took a week off to spend some time at home with Ron during Raegen's Spring Break from school.

It was good to be home for a short visit and spent some much needed time outside in my yard.  The flower beds were needing a good cleaning, along with the tumbleweeds that had blown in with the strong winds.  Ron had cleaned out the tumbleweeds several times, thought I would give him a little help.  Although it has been very dry the past few years, with little, or, no rain,  the weeds still grow!  Then the winds blows.... and, here come they come!  Cleaning out tumbleweeds feels like a never ending job and it looks terrible if they are left, they will also smother the tree and shrubs.

Ava came home with Grandpa & Mimi on Sunday for a short visit before mommy, daddy, and Grayson came to visit on Tuesday.  They only stayed a couple of days before Heath had to go back to work, which gave Ron & I a few days together.  Saturday evening we went out to eat at the new Pub in town and then walked next door to see "Monument Men" at our beautiful historical theatre.
I still have a few layouts to finish before I can actually say I am finished with Ava's second year album.  I am trying to be selective in which photos to scrap and which ones to add to the photo album....I am getting better at making these choices!

Wishing all a great weekend.  God Bless.

Another layout for Ava!

Getting closer to finishing Ava's second year...yea!  This past Saturday I attended a crop to help raise money for one of the local schools "After Graduation" party.  I worked on (2) two page layouts and finally had a chance to take a photo on the first layout today......between bottles, diapers, and playing with Grayson.  I had a fun day at the crop, scrapping with two of my sisters & three nieces.....lots of visiting, eating, & scrapping.  My older sister has scrapped for years and my younger sister is new to scrapping and loves it!  She is working on an album for her husband as a gift for Father's Day.

I am still working on a challenge to use more of my chipboard.  Like I said, I am trying, but didn't use a lot on this layout.....the title, a small flower on the lower left corner, and the banner on the left envelop, which I covered with pp.

Items used:  "True Friends" Collection by Carta Bella, Chipboard Stickers, and "Cool Summer" Chipboard by Carta Bella.
I hope to take a photo of my second two pager and get it posted soon.  Wishing everyone a happy Friday.

March Stash Challenge

I scrapped this layout for a scrap challenge on another site.  It was up to each scrapper to decide what their challenge would be for the month..... scrap with unused SG kits, use buttons, 6x6 pads, Rub-ons, anything from your stash that has been haunting you, or, has been in your stash too long!  I chose chipboard for my challenge, some of which was purchased when I started scrapping years ago.  It has gone unused for quite some time..... good thing it isn't all dusty!

Along with using my chipboard stash, I am also getting closer to finishing Ava's second year.... so happy, too!  I scrapped another two pager with paper from Basic Grey's "Hey Girl" collection, which I love !  Since my challenge is to use chipboard from my stash, the title, and two of the frames are chipboard.  Since the frame on the left was stained and unusable in it's current state, I covered the frame with paper, then added a journal strip.  The chipboard for the title is some of my favorite font chipboard......I love it and wish I knew the brand.  I have had it for at least 10 years and purchased it at the first Creating Keepsakes event I attended in Kansas City, Missouri with my sister, niece, and a friend.  The first "E" in Easter was an "F" until I altered it and the second "E" is an "m".  One of the reasons that I like this chipboard is the fact that I can stamp them any color and they will turn out perfect!
I am doing more scrapping than I thought I might while taking care of Grayson.  He is such a good baby....loving my new "job".

Love is Sweet!

Yes, love is sweet!  The love that I have for my darling grandson, Grayson and his big sister, Ava.  I love caring for Grayson during the day, so much nicer than looking in mouths all day long.  The days go by very fast as we adjust to our daily routine.  He is a such good baby, which makes it easy for me.  I feel blessed to be able to care for him and spend time with Raegen, Heath, Ava, and Rachelle, or Cha Cho, as Ava calls her Aunt Rachelle.  We miss Grandpa and hope it won't be too long before we are all together.

I am happy that I have finally finished a layout for Ava after working at it for over a week.....I am normally a slow scrapper but have never taken this long to finish a layout.

The sketch for this layout is from Scrapbook Generation's new Create magazine, a digital magazine that is very easy to access and read.   I will admit that I wasn't sure that I would like reading a scrapbook magazine online, I do love it!  I found Allison Davis' blog several years ago and love her layouts and sketches.....also, love projects by her mother.

Since I didn't bring my printer with me I made a trip to Wal Mart tonight after Zumba class at the Y....loved the instructor.  I miss having my printer and am thinking of having Ron bring it his next visit.

Wishing all of you a blessed day.

Sorting & Packing!

I am finally posting a layout that I started before Christmas and finished a couple of weeks ago.  We spent Christmas & New Year's with the girls' & family, spending almost three weeks.....thought maybe we were wearing out our welcome!  Ron & I had discussed coming home for a few days, paying bills, and then going back when baby arrived.  Well, the day we were thinking of leaving, baby decided it was time!

Our grandson, Grayson Douglas, was born on January 6 at 11:52 am....mom & baby are doing good.  I stayed for a week to help with Grayson and am very anxious to be there for good.

I have been getting ready for my partial move to Wichita.  I say "partial" for the fact that Ron will be staying here until our house sells and will continue to substitute teach and work for the lawn service for another season.  He will probably visit all of us every two or three weeks until the lawn care service gets busy for the summer.  Their season starts in March and last until late November, sometimes December.

I have been sorting my scrap supplies, sorting books (mine & hubbies), going through Christmas/Halloween decorations, sorting clothes, etc.....this is hard work!  I am trying to go through the whole house in case we finally get the house sold while I am gone.

Ron and I took down a load this past week and we are ready to leave tomorrow morning with the last load for now.   I certainly have missed having my scrap supplies and will be very ready to get them out again.  Since I couldn't scrap yesterday with all of the cold weather and snow, I printed photos to scrap later!

Although this move was something that Ron and I discussed and prayed about for quite some time...it is going to be hard on both of us.  The hardest part of my move is being apart of each other after 42 years of marriage....yes, it was his choice to stay, but I will miss him dearly!  I pray that it won't be for very long!  I am thinking we will have to plan "Date Nights" on the weekends he is in Wichita.

Hope to get back to blogging more often after my move!  Wishing everyone a blessed week!
